Item Master

The Item master of AFPOD has some distinguishing attributes that may not be found in many systems.  These attributes such as the product hierarchy, stock situation and source identification are all designed to help Product Mangers to manage their products appropriately.

Up to five suppliers can be nominated as the source of an item and the preferred supplier can be specified.

Supplier’s lead-time, shipping time and process time to each location of the company are recorded separately.  With this, relevant cost to each location is calculated.  If item movement between warehouses is required, AFPOD calculates the cost associated with these moves.

In summary, AFPOD’s special item master structure supports a complex network of the supply chain necessary in today’s market environment.  Such a network could include a company with many warehouses and factories.  This structure also supports alternate costing methods where an item’s cost may vary based on the level of options, services and delivery requested by the customers.  As an example, AFPOD can calculate cost of an item sold for urgent delivery that could be different from when it is sold for normal delivery.
